Emma Thomson, MSW, LICSW


Emma Thomson, MSW, LICSW, (she/her/hers) obtained her Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University. Emma has practiced in a range of settings from community based to outpatient settings for over 10 years, supporting children as young as three, adults, and families. Emma holds a special interest in working with and supporting parents. As a mother of two herself, Emma understands the necessity and importance of support during the perinatal period.

Emma meets each client where they are at, co-creating goals and utilizing each client’s own strengths to make meaningful, positive change for themselves and their families. Emma specializes in working with children and adults experiencing significant change in their lives: everything from welcoming a new baby into their family or a divorce to transitioning to a new school. Emma has extensive experience supporting clients and their families who have experienced acute, chronic and complex trauma. She also has worked extensively with foster care and adoptive families. Emma practices from a strengths based, client centered approach with foundations in Narrative therapy, sensory motor based therapies, CBT and family systems to address a range of concerns such as: depression, anxiety, trauma, and complex family issues.  Emma has also completed a certificate in the use of CBT for the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
