Strong Roots Counseling is a community of practitioners who provide a full range of services including individual, family, couples, and group counseling. While Strong Roots Counseling is a general practice, we have a specialty in pregnancy and postpartum mental health. We provide in-house training for perinatal treatment if this is not already an area of expertise.

Seeking practitioners (social work, LMHC, and psychologists) with individual experience and 5+years preferred. Mix of CBT and psychodynamic training preferred. Candidates with some experience with perinatal mood disorders and/or child/adolescent

experience preferred, although not required. Candidates who are already paneled with insurance companies are preferred.



Mara Acel-Green, MSW, LICSW, is a psychotherapist and owner of Strong Roots Counseling. Mara was trained at Smith School for Social Work and holds a certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Boston University. Mara has been a practicing clinician in the Boston area since 2001. In addition to her private practice and former adjunct faculty position at Northeastern University, Mara does trainings and workshops for clinicians, child birth professionals, and families. Mara's written work can be seen on Huffington Post, as well as on her website at Mara is interested in cultivating a place of innovative treatment using best practices in the field, staff professional development, and mutual support and learning.
