Dr. DeCandia (she/her/hers) joined Strong Roots Counseling in 2016. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts who has been conducting psychological and neuropsychological testing for children ages birth through seventeen for the past 20 years. She obtained her Masters in Psychology from Boston University, her Doctorate in Psychology from Antioch University New England, and completed  her training as a clinical fellow at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 1999. She also completed the Global Mental Health Certificate at Harvard University in 2012. Dr. DeCandia has worked in an array of settings with children and families, including the Italian Home for Children, Psychological Care Associates, Neighborhood House Charter School, and St. Mary's Center for Women and Children, and, in addition to testing, has specialties in addressing child behavior problems, trauma, depression and anxiety, and in supporting parents. Her warm presence, extensive experience and collaborative style yield easy to read, rich reports that are useful to parents, schools, and therapists alike. In addition to her work at Strong Roots, Dr. DeCandia is a faculty for Boston College in the Mental Health Counseling Program, and is the Owner and President of Artemis Associates, LLC where she provides training, consultation, and conducts research to support children and families and the systems that serve them.
